It’s Groundhog Day and the famous Punxsutawney Phil has seen his shadow, which predicts that there will be six more weeks of winter.
In the meantime, students at Amelia Earhart Elementary kept warm inside and celebrated this holiday by learning all about groundhogs.
The class started out their day by learning various facts about groundhogs through making little books and “cootie catchers” with the facts listed inside. They learned all about where groundhogs live, what they like to eat, how much they weigh, their hibernation, and where Groundhog Day is celebrated.
Though the groundhog’s prediction of six more weeks of winter may be disappointing to those who were hoping for an early spring, students happily enjoyed learning all about this underground rodent today.
