Amelia Earhart Elementary teachers are helping their students “open windows to a whole new world” through encouraging reading in their school.
To emphasize the importance of reading, Amelia Earhart’s Media Specialist created a bulletin board outside of the school library that states “Reading Opens Windows to a Whole New World”. Next to that phrase are silhouettes of window panes. However, what makes this bulletin board special is that the teachers have filled the window panes with photos of them reading their favorite books.
Children learn the best through modeling, or by the examples of those around them. As they pass this bulletin board daily, they will see their teachers modeling their love of reading through these photos. Through witnessing these positive examples, students will be more likely to pick up their own book and start reading as well.
What a great idea to showcase the importance of reading through utilizing photos of teachers with their favorite books. Not only does this create a well-decorated bulletin board, but it can help to promote a life-long love of learning in the students who see it.
