Core Curriculum Resources

The materials teachers use to plan, prepare, and deliver instruction, including materials students use to learn about the subject such as texts, textbooks, tasks, tools, and media. Provo City School District has adopted the following programs:

English Language Arts

Grades K-6

McGraw’s Wonders Comprehensive Reading Program and 95% Core for K-3. Classroom teachers have physical materials, including student books and teacher manuals, as well as digital access to all materials.

Grades 7-12

“Savvas’ “myPerspectives is a powerful English language arts curriculum that values the perspective of the learner, collectively and individually, and provides next-gen learning experiences that promote higher achievement and develop the competencies needed for college and career readiness.”

Math

Grades K-6

Houghton Mifflin’s Into Math Program. Classroom teachers have physical materials, including student books and teacher manuals, as well as digital access to all materials.

Grades 7-12

Cengage Big Ideas Math is a research-based program providing a rigorous, focused, and coherent curriculum for students in grades 7 – 12.

Social Studies

Grades 4-5

McGraw Hill’s Impact for grades 4 – 5.  IMPACT Social Studies teaches the art and strategy of inquiry as teachers model how to ask questions and do research. Students learn how to analyze sources and consider multiple perspectives as they think critically about problems, events, places, and people.

Grades 6-12

McGraw Hill’s Networks for grades 6 – 12 Rigorous, age-appropriate content highlights diverse perspectives, integrates primary sources, and makes relevant connections to bring the subject area to life.

Science

Effective resources are utilized to provide K – 12 Science teachers with materials that support the Utah Core Standards, instruction, and teaching. These resources are created by groups of content and teaching experts, including university faculty, district and school specialists, teachers, and The Utah State Board of Education staff.

Utah Science Open Educational Resources (OER) textbooks are used as the basis for Science instruction in grades K – 12.
