This past Tuesday and Wednesday, Centennial Middle School classes hosted educators from Thanksgiving Point as part of Thanksgiving Point‘s Curiosity in the Classroom initiative. This immersive STEM learning experience helps the students learn real world applications to what they are learning in the classroom. In this case, students were able to participate in hands-on learning about earthquakes.

Using math, science and engineering solutions, groups of eighth grade science classes were tasked with making pasta structures. Each group worked together to create an earthquake proof structure, which was then tested on an earthquake simulator. The students were able to learn and have fun at the same time!
