Sunset View 2nd grade students and their parents woke up a little earlier than normal this morning to have breakfast together and socialize with their new principal, Chris Chilcoat.
Muffins and juice were provided, as well as the opportunity for the families to get better acquainted with Chris Chilcoat and become more informed about this school year.
Tiffany Evans, Title 1 coordinator for Sunset View, created the idea for this event to replace the annual Title 1 meeting for this year. Her main purpose in creating this event is to help communicate critical information to families in a fun way.
After Principal Chilcoat visited with families, he began a presentation for the parents discussing student expectations and things they can look forward to this year. He also emphasized the importance of reading at home with your children, in whatever language is spoken at home.
The “Breakfast with the Principal” event will continue all next week, as different grades are invited on different days.
