Kim Fountain Receives the Provo Way Award

Walk into Rock Canyon Elementary, and the first face you’ll see is Kim Fountain’s. She’s the reassuring voice on the phone, the person who remembers every classroom number, every student’s name, and exactly where a lost backpack might be. She is the school’s constant, the heartbeat of Rock Canyon’s daily rhythm.

This sentiment, shared by Principal Karen Brock, Assistant Principal Amy Brown, and Instructional Coach Alyce Jayne McKinney, reflects just how essential Kim is– that opening quote comes from Brock Herself. As the Head Secretary, Kim is the center of every logistical piece that keeps the school running, but her impact goes far beyond that. Her warmth, efficiency, and ability to make every student, teacher, and family feel seen and valued define the spirit of Rock Canyon.

“She knows every classroom number, every student name,” McKinney said. “She brings such professionalism and enthusiasm to every task and has a friendly, ‘can-do’ attitude every day. She makes sure everyone knows we are glad they are part of the Rock Canyon Community.”

To quote their nomination letter: “Kim has been at Rock Canyon Elementary in many capacities. She keeps everything moving. She brings such professionalism and enthusiasm to every task and has a friendly, ‘can-do’ attitude every day. She knows the students and families well and makes sure everyone knows we are glad they are part of the Rock Canyon Community. We all know that we would be lost without Kim and are grateful to be able to work with her every day.”

Kim’s ability to anticipate needs, solve problems, and support those around her makes her indispensable. She ensures that Rock Canyon isn’t just a school, but a home where students, staff, and families feel safe and supported.
