Timpview High School reached a historic milestone in May 2025, capturing its 100th Utah state championship title. The Thunderbirds’ boys tennis team clinched the 5A state crown at Liberty Park on May 10, marking Timpview’s 19th boys tennis championship – and the school’s 100th overall state earned championship.

It’s an achievement crowning Timpview as only the third high school in Utah history to earn 100 state titles, a feat celebrated enthusiastically by students and staff. “(Tennis) is the most successful sport at the school,” said head coach Emmet Hart, who knew his squad had a chance to deliver the landmark victory. “We knew coming in that we had a chance to win the 100th and we had a lot of fans and administrators here to see it.”

On May 13, 2025, Provo City honored Timpview’s century of championships with a celebratory parade featuring all of the school’s athletic teams and performing arts groups. Mayor Michelle Kaufusi, city officials, and proud families joined students lining the parade route as the Timpview Marching Band and cheerleaders led the student procession. The parade wound from the high school campus down nearby streets, giving the community a chance to applaud the athletes, coaches, and performers who contributed to Timpview’s legacy.

This 100th championship caps a banner year for Timpview athletics. Senior runner Jane Hedengren was named the 2024–25 Gatorade National Girls Cross Country Player of the Year after a record-breaking season – she set a 16:32.7 course record to win the Nike Cross Nationals and a 15:50.1 meet record at Nike Cross Southwest, and also claimed the 5A state title in 16:21.5. Girls Tennis similarly cinched their 9th state title. Programs like football and volleyball continue to excel and place well, year after year– as do most of Timpview’s athletic programs.

Beyond athletics, Timpview’s performing arts programs also shine. The Timpview Theatre department has earned accolades at state competitions and delighted audiences with acclaimed productions – from classics like Les Misérables to the recent Seussical the Musical, which was honored as a state finalist. The school’s drama students regularly rank among Utah’s best, and together with award-winning choir and band ensembles, they demonstrate that Timpview’s culture of excellence extends to every arena. From courts and stages to classrooms and communities, Timpview continues to inspire excellence, proudly setting the standard for Utah schools. We thank Provo staff, faculty, students, and families for their hard work and continued support of our extracurricular programs.
