PCSD: Racism Is NOT Okay

We join with many throughout our district and community who are deeply saddened at recent evidence of racism at one of our schools.

RACISM IS NOT OKAY.

Provo City School District has students and employees who represent every race, ethnicity, and color. Diversity, equity, and inclusion are at the core of who we are. Countering racism is essential to us and we have found it to often be difficult work in a community with many differing demographics, beliefs, and opinions. Our school district has prioritized this work, and therefore created a department centered around the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusivity needs of our students, families, employees, and community. We support our Diversity & Equity Department and their ongoing efforts to foster a positive, inclusive, and diverse environment which is not limited to: Multicultural Advisory Committees, Diversity & Equity Community Advisory Council, Speaker Series, and much more. It is the collective responsibility of the Provo City School District community of students, staff, teachers, administration, and parents to make this environment conducive to learning and to foster mutual respect among all community members. Specifically, a commitment to diversity and inclusivity requires that each of us examine individual attitudes and beliefs towards differences and embrace those that are positive and inclusive.

PCSD: El Racismo NO Es Correcto

Nos unimos con todos en nuestro distrito y comunidad que están profundamente entristecidos por la reciente evidencia de racismo en una de nuestras escuelas.

EL RACISMO NO ES CORRECTO.

El Distrito Escolar de la Ciudad de Provo tiene estudiantes y empleados que representan cada raza, etnicidad y color. La diversidad, la equidad y la inclusión están en el centro de quien somos. La lucha contra el racismo es esencial para nosotros y hemos encontrado que es un trabajo difícil en una comunidad con diferentes demografías, creencias y opiniones. Nuestro distrito escolar ha priorizado este trabajo y, por lo tanto, ha creado un departamento centrado en las necesidades de diversidad, equidad e inclusión de nuestros estudiantes, familias, empleados y comunidad. Apoyamos a nuestro Departamento de Diversidad y Equidad y sus esfuerzos continuos para cultivar un ambiente positivo, inclusivo y diverso que no se limita a: Comités consultivos multiculturales, Consejo consultivo de la comunidad sobre diversidad y equidad, serie de oradores y mucho más. Es la responsabilidad colectiva de la comunidad del Distrito Escolar de la Ciudad de Provo de los estudiantes, el personal, los maestros, la administración y los padres para hacer este ambiente que conduzca al aprendizaje y para cultivar el respeto mutuo entre todos los miembros de la comunidad. Específicamente, un compromiso a la diversidad y la inclusión requiere de cada uno de nosotros que examinemos las actitudes y creencias individuales hacia las diferencias y adoptemos aquellas que son positivas y de inclusión.
