Each week, Elicia Gray, an art teacher at Lakeview Elementary, creates a slideshow for her students. Recently, she sent them one filled with creative ideas, and invited them to submit a piece to the Springville museum show.
The Springville Museum of Art invites all K-12 students in Utah to participate in their Up Close and Far Away online exhibition. Participation allows a moment for them to reflect on their own experiences, activities, and commitments while looking closer at relationships, places, and things in their current spaces. Young artists will make a work of art using items in their home while considering one of the prompts they have provided, snap a picture, and submit it online!
Several students throughout the state, including those invited at Lakeview, followed through and have submitted their work. You can view their creations here. As each masterpiece trickles in, they will all be shown on a rolling basis. Submissions will be accepted until June 1, 2020.
Though such times of insecurity have put us all on hold, we can all continue to look forward with hope.
We are all incredibly proud of these students for participating on their own from home!
If you or someone you know would like to participate, follow the parameters listed and let your creativity run wild!
