Registration information has been going around for this summer’s Camp Big Springs, but many parents may be wondering exactly what Camp Big Springs is.
Camp Big Springs was started by Provo City School District and Provo City about 48 years ago as an additional learning experience for students to participate in during the summer.
The camp is designed for students who have just finished the 5th grade. It gives them the opportunity to live outdoors for five days and learn elementary STEM (Science Technology Engineering Math) concepts that relate to the outdoors tying into 5th and 6th grade curriculums. Classes offered at the camp include animal adaption, birds of prey, insect life, water systems and many more. PCSD elementary school teachers instruct the classes and help run the camp throughout the week.
Camp Big Springs is a great opportunity for your child to encounter the outdoors, build friendships, and learn new skills. Camp registration forms will be sent home on Thursday, March 16. The registration fee (or financial aid application) and all registration forms are due by Friday, March 24.
