Today, Maren Clayton’s third grade class at Spring Creek Elementary School imitated Wassily Kandisky for STEAM Friday. Wassily Kandisky is a Russian artist who is said to have created some of the first abstract art pieces. Kandisky began his art career at age 30, so it is never too late to start something new!

Clayton had her students practice imitating his color study from 1913. The students painted squares with concentric circles and were able to see how the colors complimented each other. This third grade class developed a deeper understanding for abstract art and the way colors interact with each other. Happy STEAM Friday and keep learning!
