“The True Story of the Three Little Pigs” Activities

Last Tuesday we had a Facebook Live Reading of “The True Story of the Three Little Pigs” for our PCSD Summer Reading Series.  To follow up with that reading, here are a few activities, all related to the book, that kids of all ages can have fun doing.

For Younger Students

This idea comes from www.teachingideas.co.uk, visit their site for more ideas. This activity is simple, but requires some baking supplies. With your child, come up with a recipe for a a birthday cake, like the one the wolf was making for his grandma. Talk about what base ingredients you will need to make the cake and what kinds of things you can add to make it yummier. Maybe even ask a neighbor for a cup of sugar like the wolf. Afterwards bake the cake and see how hard work can yield great rewards.

For Older Students

This idea comes from funlitttes.com see their site for more details and other fun projects. For this activity you will need pipe cleaners, packing peanuts and a styrofoam board. The basic idea of this project is to see if you can build a better house than one of the three little pigs. Using the pipe cleaners as structure, the board as a base and the peanuts to connect the pipe cleaners together try and build a house that could withstand a strong gust of wind from either blowing on it or maybe even using a hair dryer.
