During the summer, our teachers took extra time to prepare for the fall of 2020.

“We have the opportunity to prepare for distance learning in the fall with purpose and intent- all while maintaining an indelible focus on equity. After all, effective teaching is effective teaching, no matter where it occurs.” (Fisher and Frey, Literacy for Life).

As teachers prepared, they envisioned the future of their classroom. They contemplated various situations and anticipated their students’ needs. In addition to deep, detailed instructive courses on Canvas, teachers also received 16 hours to review strategies for blended learning tactics that increase student engagement.

Blended learning combines classroom learning with online learning in which students can, in part, control the time, pace and place of their study.

Although learning priorities for every subject have been set, teachers work together in teams to assess feedback and adjust as needed proving that they too are lifelong learners.

Testing standards have not decreased and with the pressures of making sure each child receives a quality education, these teachers show day in and day out the superheroes they truly are.
