Every year the Provo Rotary Club brings Christmas a little early to our third graders in the Provo City School District. On November 28, 2017, students were excited to receive dictionaries from the Rotary Club and explore new words with each other. They even looked up the longest word in the english dictionary, pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis, which refers to a type of lung disease!

These dictionary deliveries are part of The Rotary Dictionary Project that was started by the Provo Rotary Club as part of their community service efforts. The Rotary members attend each elementary school annually to personally hand out the dictionaries and spend time with the students.

Before passing out the dictionaries, Rotary members discuss the importance of students developing their vocabulary and continuing their education. We hope that students will be able to utilize these dictionaries throughout the rest of their elementary and middle school education.
