Provost Fifth Graders Change the World with Music

Music makes people laugh, dance and sing and Provost fifth graders love all of those things. That is why these fifth graders are learning how to play the cello during their music rotation. With 32 students participating and only 20 cellos, the students have to be split up into two classes of cello choir. Furthermore, with only a few months of practicing, these students will be performing in the school’s monthly “Character Counts” assembly on Friday, November 17, 2017.

Cello choir instructor Lauri Driggs says, “Since we only see them once a week and they are all beginners on cello, it is pretty amazing that we are doing any performing before March!” The students who will be playing in the cellos in the performance auditioned for their parts and have been working hard to “gel” their common beat and move together as a group. “We hope to motivate the student musicians to continue to practice and improve their own personal playing skills,” explains Driggs. As the saying goes, “practice makes perfect” and we are proud of Provost fifth graders for working so diligently to make music.
