Dr. Jamie Davis-Leite has been announced as the new principal at Lakeview Elementary School. She will be replacing current principal Mike Barker, who is retiring. She will begin her new position on July 1.
Dr. Davis-Leite began her career as an English teacher at Centennial Middle School in 2005. She then taught English and was the school librarian at Provo Canyon School’s early adolescent campus. In 2012, Jamie started Utah’s Portuguese immersion program and spent the following six years building the program as the state Portuguese director. During this time, she also worked as a coach and specialist in the Teaching & Learning departments in Provo City and Tooele County School Districts. In 2018, Jamie came to Lakeview Elementary to work with Principal Mike Barker as facilitator and later assistant principal.
Jamie has a bachelors in English Teaching from BYU, a masters in Curriculum & Instruction from UVU, and a doctorate in Educational Leadership & Policy from the University of Utah. She has endorsements in English, Portuguese, Dual Language Immersion, and English as a Second Language.
Jamie has lived in west Provo for the past sixteen years and has three children who have attended Provo’s west side schools of Lakeview, Dixon, and Provo High. Lakeview is Jamie’s favorite place and she is thrilled to have the opportunity to be principal there with the best teachers, staff, and students!
