Two new assistant principals have been announced. Jeannette Moreira will be the new assistant principal at Centennial Middle School. Kristen Chambers will be the new assistant principal at Independence High School.

Jeannette Moreira

Jeannette has been the Title I Coordinator and EL Supervisor at Provost Elementary for the past seven years. She previously was a Special Education teacher for grades K – 6 at Sunset View Elementary for eight years. At the beginning of her teaching career, she taught for five years at a Middle School in Arlington, Virginia. She earned her Bachelor’s degree at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Later, she earned her Special Education licensure from the University of Virginia. She then pursued her Master’s Degree in Education and continued her studies to receive Math and English as a Second Language endorsements. Last year she earned another Master’s Degree at Brigham Young University in Educational Leadership. She is fluent in three languages which include English, Portuguese and Spanish. She is excited to serve the students and community at Centennial!

Kristen Chambers

Kristen Chambers began her career in education with Granite School District in 2011. There she spent time in both elementary and middle schools working as a physical education teacher and athletic coordinator. She was an integral part of the schools’ leadership team, helping with curriculum and intervention. After 7 years with Granite, Kristen had the opportunity to return to Provo City School District as a teacher at Dixon Middle School. For the past two and a half years, Kristen has been the Dean of Students at Independence High School. Kristen received her teaching degree from Brigham Young University in 2011 and completed her Master of Education in Instructional Leadership from Utah State University in 2017. She completed Granite School District’s Emerging Leader Academy and Provo City School District’s Principal’s Preparatory Academy. Kristen is a proud graduate of Provo City School District. She is grateful to have the opportunity to give back to the community where she was raised. Kristen is excited to facilitate community connections to help students find success post high school.
