March is “Music in Our Schools” Month. Our district has many skilled and devoted music teachers deserving praise. The district is highlighting Music Teachers throughout March to celebrate all they do to build the musical culture in our schools and community.
This week we want to thank our Music Teacher, Megan Christensen, at Rock Canyon Elementary.
Megan initially chose to teach music because “there is an understanding, unity, and connection that comes through music” and that this unity is something that you can’t find anywhere else. Whether Megan is teaching in the music classroom, directing a children’s choir, or teaching private voice lessons, she finds great satisfaction in helping children grow in their love for music. Megan loves playing music games and laughing with students; her favorite part of teaching is the kids.
She has been studying voice for over 30 years, but she also plays the piano and the ukulele. Megan loves classical music, jazz, musical theater, pop, rock, and many other genres.
Thank you, Megan, for all you do to support your students’ musical and personal development.
Join us next Friday for another Music Teacher highlight, and tell your Music Teachers what they mean to you and your school!
