Spring Break PreK – 12 Student Learning Activities 

During the week of Spring Break, parents might choose to continue student learning activities with their children. The activities listed below will help to keep students engaged and learning while school is out for Spring Break.

Please note:  These are listed in grade order, from Preschool to High School. We hope these might be fun, family learning times!

Preschool

• Reading: Hey Preschoolers, let’s read a book together!  Today’s story is Operation Ice Cream by Raye Lankford.  Parents, you can access this book by going to pbskid.org here.
•   Virtual Field trip to the Australia Zoo 
• Math: Choose a math game to practice shapes, counting, measuring, and more at uen.org
• Science: Let’s learn about dinosaurs while we dig for fossils with this fun activity at pbskids.org here. 
• PE: Get outside and play! Go for a walk/jog/run, ride your bike, go on a hike with your family (play catch, shoot hoops, play soccer, play freeze tag. Remember social distancing!)
  • Raining: visit Go Noodle to check-out ideas to move with your family 

Kindergarten

• Reading:  Hey Kindergarteners, let’s read a book together! Today’s story is The Tale of Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter. Parents, you can access this at sorylineonline.net here.
• Virtual Field trip to the Australia Zoo here.
• Learn Computer Science!  Learn to make your own game, app, or computer drawing on code.org.
• Practice math facts and explore other fun math games. Parents, you can access the site at roomrecess.com.
• PE: Get outside and play! Go for a walk/jog/run, ride your bike, go on a hike with your family (play catch, shoot hoops, play soccer, play freeze tag. Remember social distancing!)
  • Raining: visit Go Noodle to check out ideas to move with your family

First Grade

• Hey 1st Graders, let’s read a book together!  Today’s story is Arnie the Doughnut by Laurie Keller. Parents, you can access the book at story online.net .
• Virtual Field trip to the Australia Zoo 
• Art: Time to be creative!  Draw a picture to the following prompt.  Add as many extra details as you would like. Have fun and be creative!
  • There are millions of fish in the sea!  Create your own type of fish! Give it a name and create a home in the sea for your new fish.
• Learn Computer Science!  Learn to make your own game, app, or computer drawing on code.org here.
• Practice math facts and explore other fun math games. Parents, you can access this at roomreccess.com

Second Grade

• Art: Time to be creative!  Draw a picture to the following prompt.  Add as many extra details as you would like. Have fun and be creative!
  • Create your dream bedroom!  Think about what pictures you would have on the wall, what type of cool bed you would have, and add other details!

• Practice math facts and explore other fun math games. Parents you can access this at room recess.com.

Third Grade

• Virtual field trip: Farm Food 360: Learn about agriculture through these virtual tours of various farms here.
• Art: Time to be creative!  Draw a picture to the following prompt.  Add as many extra details as you would like. Have fun and be creative!
  • Create your own storybook character!  What is his or her name? What are they wearing, how tod they act, and what do they do every day?

Fourth Grade

• Reading: Hey 4th graders, ask your parents or guardians to go to the link below and sign up for a free 30 day Epic account.  You will be able to choose from thousands of available books! Choose one you are interested in and start reading here at getepic.com!
• Take a virtual tour through the National Museum of Natural History.  Explore dinosaurs, sea life, ancient civilizations, are more! You choose the tour that interests you and “take a walk” through the exhibit at naturalhistory.si.edu here.
• Writing: You are now a historian!  Starting today, you will keep a journal using the medium of your choice (examples include, a notebook, Google Slides, Google Docs, etc). Each day, reflect on what you are seeing either from the news, social media, or your own family. Consider how the world, our nation, your community, friends and family are responding to this pandemic.
• Learn Computer Science!  Learn to make your own game, app, or computer drawing here on code.org.
• Practice math facts and explore other fun math games. Parents you can access this at roomrecess.com here.

• Virtual Field Trip: Join Boeing and Discovery Education on a mission to inspire the world through aerospace innovation with an exclusive virtual field trip to historic Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. This behind-the-scenes tour will introduce students to just a few of the amazing Boeing employees who are preparing to write the next chapter of space history with the launch of the Starliner/CST-100 spacecraft and the deployment of the Space Launch System (SLS). Seventh & Eight Grade

• Mindfulness: Take a journey in relaxation at the amazing Monterey Bay Aquarium. Choose one or both:
  • Morning Meditocian with the Kelp Forest  on YouTube
  • Morning Meditocian with the Jellies on YouTube
• PE: Get outside for 60 minutes! Go for a walk/jog/run, ride your bike, go on a hike with your family. Play catch, shoot hoops, play soccer, play freeze tag. Remember social distancing! 
  • Raining: Try a no equipment workout from Beach Body Kids  on vimeo.com here. 

Ninth – Twelfth Grade

• ELA: Read a book or poetry for 20-30 minutes at online library.utah.gov here.
