The Daily Herald named Max Sandgren Utah Valley Student of the Week on May 31, 2017.

Sandgren just finished his sophomore year at Provo High School. He is a native of Provo, having attended Sunset View Elementary School and Dixon Middle School. He is a hard worker and a team player. He helps his fellow students accomplish their goals and is a positive example to all.

At this year’s statewide Welding Expo Max competed in three separate categories. Max selflessly used his own truck with a self built flatbed and modified gooseneck to haul the other students projects to the expo. During the competition, Max competed in the Drag Race competition with a Mini Bike that he built on his own against other students from around the state. It was a double elimination style race and Max stayed undefeated up until the last three competitors were he was just barely beat in a very close race, placing 3rd overall.
