Provo Peaks recently had a special assembly hearing from a guest speaker Dallas Wall who is a civil engineer from Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT). The assembly began by recognizing fifth grade student Bree Baker for her continuous efforts in the classroom exercising the “learning pit” mentality.   Mr. Wall then spoke with the children on three lessons in life that closely related to the ‘learning pit’ values.

Mr. Wall shared three important values or ideas he uses in his own career to increase productivity, the quality of life and sense of accomplishment:

  • Information is valuable
  • You don’t need to know everything
  • It’s important to minimize the impact of mistakes

These three lessons are directly related to the ‘learning pit’, where students focus on building persistence and ‘grit’ by evaluating and working through problems in and out of the classroom.

Thank you to Dallas Wall for taking the time to share these important lessons with Provo Peaks students!
