Enrollment is around the corner!

Spring is getting closer and we’re excited to meet our new kindergarten students! Soon each school will open registration. To make your registration process as smooth as possible, we pulled together this resource to help answer your common questions.

What do I need to know about enrollment?

If your child will be 5 years old by September 1st, 2020, this is your time to enroll them! Thanks to our online systems, most of this process can be done from the comfort of your own home.

The first step is to visit PROVO.EDU, and click “I am a Parent,” then click “Register for School”. Next, select the tab titled “New Student Registration.” You’ll be asked to submit basic information in either English or in Spanish. The school’s registrar will then create a Powerschool Parent Account and send you a follow up email with further instructions. To find out when you can expect this process to be completed, visit your school’s registrar.

Next, you’ll login to Powerschool at GRADES.PROVO.EDU. The follow up email you received earlier will contain your login information. From there, you will fill out the second portion. This will take you about 20 or 30 minutes.

Lastly, you’ll need to provide the following documents to the school:

  • Child’s birth certificate
  • Child’s immunization records – including dates of all shots, or exception certificates. Children may register but cannot attend school until immunizations are up to date and a copy of the record has been turned into the school. Please see the attached immunization letter for more detailed information.
  • Proof of address (example: bill or rental agreement)
  • Parent or guardian’s photo ID

In order for registration to be complete, ALL of the above mentioned items must be provided in person to the student registrar’s office. The paperwork may be provided at any time after the school’s orientation date, so long as it arrives prior to the start day of the newly enrolled student. The sooner the better!

Feel free to contact your school or visit the student services office for assistance.

What if I don’t have internet access?

That’s okay! We have moved most of the new student registration online for the convenience of the parents. If you have a household without internet, then the entire process can be done in person at the school you are registering at. Because most registration is done online, you won’t have to wait long!

If you know of any parents of kindergarten-age children who do not have internet access, please share this information with them.

When can I go to registration for my school?

Each school has a set registration date where new kindergarteners, parents, and educators gather and get to know one another. This is an exciting moment for all parties involved and we can’t wait to sit down with you! If you are unable to make it to this meeting, you can still register your child for kindergarten, but we hope you can make it! This is a giant step towards your child’s introduction to our educational system!

What if I am enrolling my child into a different school?

There is a guaranteed spot for each child within their school boundaries. Parents may apply to have their child attend a different school. Acceptance into other schools is reviewed on case-by-case (and is not guaranteed).

We can’t wait to see you!

Registration is one of our favorite parts of the year! Registration allows the new students to transition into the next part of their lives while holding the hands of their trusted guardians. We know that registration can seem intimidating, but we’re here to take the stress out of it as much as we can. Kindergarten registration is the best time to trade your child’s fears for anticipation and enthusiasm!
