Aaron Smith, a math teacher at Independence High School, was able to help his students see a new concept in a different light through his unique math lesson.
Students learned about the Fibonacci Sequence, which is a series of numbers in which each number is the sum of the two preceding numbers, in their applied mathematics class today.
After the discussion, Mr. Smith had his class demonstrate the Fibonacci Sequence using a hands-on activity where they learned how to plan, cut, and piece together a stained glass design. They then talked about the different elements found within their stained glass and how the elements relate to the Fibonacci sequence.
Overall, students enjoyed the activity and were able to effectively demonstrate their understanding of the new math concept through this hands-on project.
