Students in Mallory Judkins’ PLUS class, a 25 minute period for enrichment courses, at Centennial Middle School have been working all year on Genius Hour projects.

Genius Hour gives students time and opportunity to work on a project of their choice. Students conducted research, found real-world mentors and learned presentation skills. All of the work and skills culminated into a final presentation.

The projects range from writing to sculpture and represent passion and talent from some of the school’s brightest students.

The focus has been on “grit,” based on principles from Angela Duckworth’s book with the same title. Throughout the year, students have focused on grit and growth mindset, preparing them to be contributing citizens of their community.
