Across the district and throughout Provo, this has been a week of change and adjustment.  Parents, students, employees and teachers have worked tirelessly together to implement online learning and ensure that essential services are provided for all students.  As the week comes to an end, here is a brief update with some of what was accomplished.

  1. The Child Nutrition Department was able to provide both breakfast and lunch for students.  During the week, 7.193 breakfasts and 13,952 lunches were provided for a total of 21,145 meals provided.
  2. As of Friday afternoon, 3,647 Chromebooks were checked out.
  3. Provo City School District Custodial Teams are approximately 50% complete with a comprehensive disinfecting process at each of the campuses.  Larger facilities are approximately 40% complete due to the square footage.  The disinfecting process kills the pathogens.  The EPA recently released their list of approved disinfectants, deemed effective with killing the Coronavirus.  The active ingredient listed in the hospital grade disinfectant used by our Custodial Teams is included on that list.  This isn’t new for Custodial Teams at the district, where this disinfectant has been used in our schools for over 6 years.

Thank you to the many parents, students, teachers and district employees that have worked so hard this week to make this transition as smooth as possible.
