During the April 16 Board Meeting, the school board received an updated report of the ongoing...
Over the course of this school year, students from all over the district have participated in a special art contest. Students from Kindergarten to High School created works of art that evoke empathy and understanding. A wide range of art was accepted, from poster sized artwork, ceramic bowls, and 3d welded sculptures.
Each entry was judged inside its age bracket (1-2 grade, 3-4 grade, 5-6 grade, middle school, high school), and overall district winners were selected.
Congratulations, Anjolie of Spring Creek Elementary, for your outstanding and hopeful work of art!
Anjolie believes that empathy is kindness to others and helping people when they need it; you can see that belief echoed in her art piece. She loves drawing people, and thinks that people are the most interesting subjects for art. Anjolie says that she loves art class and her art teacher the most.
Spring Creek Art Teacher, Brianna Roberts, told us that she could immediately tell that Anjolie loves making art at home. “She cherishes the process and pays attention to every paint stroke. She’s blossomed as an artist this year, and I’m so happy that she loves creating art with me.”
This is the first article in a four part series about the District’s Empathy Art Contest. Stay tuned to see more over the course of this week!
