Every year, Dixon takes around 36 students to Washington DC for a history tour. The students are selected from an application process and will spend five to seven days visiting historical sites and memorials in Washington DC. Until their trip, these select students will prepare by meeting several times a month to study and learn more about our country’s history.

On November 11, 2017, students selected to go to DC went to the Utah Valley Convention Center in Provo. There they listened as WWII veteran, and 93-year-old man, Lance Corporal Edgar Harrell shared his story.

Listening to Veteran Harrell’s story was a great preparatory experience for students as they connected on a deeper level with WWII. They are excited to learn more and cannot wait to see the history for themselves.
