February is CTE month and we are excited to highlight the broad spectrum of fields that CTE offers our students. The seventh of the thirteen clusters we are highlighting is the Hospitality and Tourism Cluster. Within this career cluster, these are the pathways within our district that our students can take:

Pathway Culinary Arts

In Utah, job openings for chefs and head cooks are projected to increase 3.1% through the year 2026; however, competition should be fierce for jobs in the top kitchens of higher-end restaurants. According to the National Restaurant Association, in Utah restaurant and foodservice jobs represent 10% of employment in the state. Through the year 2026, growth is projected at 13.3%. In 2018, sales in Utah restaurants totaled $5.5 billion. Restaurant jobs represent 9% of employment in Utah.

FCCLA – Student Organization:

FCCLA is the CTSO for students in the Culinary Arts Career Pathway. FCCLA provides students with opportunities to attain the knowledge, skills, and leadership characteristics necessary to succeed in life and careers.
