There’s little as gratifying as the partnership between Provo CAPS and Best Buddies International.

The Provo CAPS program asks students to use professional tools under the mentorship of local businesses to work on their proposed business projects, thereby making contributions on the professional level. It’s a program where students work on various projects according to the CAPS strands: Digital Design and Software Development, Business, Marketing, and Entrepreneurship, Engineering and Industrial Design, and Medicine and Health Science. There are few programs that prepare students for post-graduate life as well as Provo CAPS.

Best Buddies International is “the world’s largest organization dedicated to ending the social, physical, and economic isolation of the 200 million people with intellectual and physical disabilities.” They work with employers using policies and procedures to protect employees and employers. Their program offers a 92 percent retention rate in post-graduate jobs. They do great work to aid their students.

Students from the two programs worked through team-building activities, including legos and marshmallow towers, and used the lunch afterward to network and chat about job-hunting and resume-building strategies.

Their meeting was a fruitful engagement, and we hope the two can partner again in the near future.
