With the upcoming retirements of Drew Daniels at Lakeview and Dean Nielsen at Rock Canyon, two new principals have been named.  Mike Barker has been named principal at Lakeview and Seth Hansen has been named principal at Rock Canyon.  Both of these positions take effect on July 1.

Mike Barker began his career teaching science and health at Dixon Middle School for four years. He then moved to Centennial Middle School when it first opened in 1996 and taught 7th grade science and a multimedia class teaching video editing.  He remained at Centennial until 2016, when he moved to Westridge Elementary to serve on the administrative team as the STEM Coordinator. In 2017, he moved to Wasatch Elementary where he served as Assistant Principal.

Mr. Barker attended BYU, where he received his bachelors degree in Biology/Secondary education .  He has also received a Master of Education – Instructional Technology from Utah State University and a Master of Education – Educational Leadership from Brigham Young University. He received his Educational Administration License in 2015.

Seth Hansen has worked in education since 2006 when he became a special education and business teacher at Paradigm high School.  He then moved to Midvale Middle School, where he taught special education, until he moved to Provo City School District in 2009.  In Provo, Hansen has taught special education at both Amelia Earhart Elementary School and Timpanogos Elementary School.  From 2012-2014, Hansen was the special education facilitator at both Franklin Elementary School and Provo High School.  For the past four years, he has been an assistant principal at Provo High School.

Mr. Hansen attended Utah Valley University, where he received a Bachelors degree in Accounting.  He the received a Masters of Education – Special Education from the University of Utah.  He received his Educational Administration License in 2012.
