Kyle Bates has been named the new principal of Centennial Middle School. He is replacing Gaye Gibbs, who was recently named the new principal at Edgemont Elementary School. Kyle will officially begin his new position on July 1.
Kyle began his teaching career in 1998, teaching high school history in Barstow, CA. He then spent 2 years working for BYU to develop an ESL Endorsement Program, and has also taught 6th grade and 8th grade US History. He has worked in Provo City School District since 2006, first as an assistant principal at Provo High School and Independence High School. Since 2012, he has been the assistant principal at Centennial.
Kyle received his Masters Degree from BYU in 2005.
About his new position, Kyle said, “Centennial Middle School is an incredible place! I’m excited to work with our faculty and staff on initiatives designed to improve student achievement, building on the tremendous foundation established by Miss Gibbs over the last two years.”
