Eliza McIntosh, the newly crowned Ms. Wheelchair America 2017, spread smiles and her message of being superheroes through embracing and respecting differences to young students at Amelia’s after-school program in Provo on March 7, 2017.
McIntosh shared a video from the Rio 2016 Paralympics entitled, “We’re the Superheroes.” It emphasized her message that having disabilities and differences is cool. The video repeated the statement, “yes, I can!” which echoed throughout her presentation.
Students soaked up McIntosh’s smile and enthusiasm for life. They related through sharing personal experiences of family members with disabilities who they consider to be superheroes.
