Honorary Diplomas for Veterans and Others

Apžvalga

Utah Code authorizes the Provo City School District Board of Education to award an honorary diploma to a veteran, if the veteran meets the following criteria:

  • Left high school before graduating in order to serve in the armed forces of the United States.
  • Served in the armed forces of the United States during the period of:
    • World War II
    • The Korean War
    • The Vietnam War
  • Was either:
    • Honorably discharged
    • Released from active duty because of a service-related disability
  • Resides within the school district or resided within the school district at the time of leaving high school to serve in the armed forces.

Eligibility and Application Process

To receive an honorary high school diploma, a veteran, immediate family member, or guardian must submit to the Board:

  • A request for an honorary high school diploma.
  • Information required by the local school board to verify the veteran’s eligibility.

Board Discretion for Other Citizens

The Board of Education may also choose, on a case-by-case basis, to award an honorary diploma to other citizens of Provo City who did not graduate from district high schools.

Procedūros ir formos

The Board of Education directs the Provo City School District Executive Director of Teaching and Learning to create procedures and forms to facilitate the Board’s review of requests for honorary diplomas.
