Saturday, April 14, Brigham Young University (BYU) hosted a Lego Mindstorm Robotics Competition for the Provo Elementary Schools.

The schools that competed include Amelia Earhart, Canyon Crest, Edgemont, Rock Canyon and Spring Creek. Several teams from each school participated in this competition. The students were instructed to create a robot that would compete in line following and ball tossing arenas. The students were also able to participate in three lab tours around the BYU campus. These tours included the Fluids Lab, the Robotics Lab and the Mars Rover. Engineering students from BYU helped to run the arena and took the students on tours.

Parents and friends came to support students in the competition. The Lego Mindstorm Robotics Competition lasted most of the morning and awards were presented in the afternoon.

This was a great opportunity for the young students of Provo City School District to participate in STEM learning.
