Consistency, compassion, and a continued effort in caring for students, staff, and faculty are just a few traits that Timpview High Assistant Principal Suzanne Parker exemplifies, earning her the Provo Way Award.
Its recognition made more remarkable as it comes through nominations from multiple teachers—Moana King, Maren Unrau, Maren Ostenson, Ashlyn Bacon, Terry Brown, Blake Garfield, Christopher Jollie, and Elizabeth Brooks—an extraordinary show of schoolwide support, which speaks to Parker’s impact on the community.
The Provo Way Awards, presented by the Provo City School District and Board of Education, honor individuals who make a meaningful and lasting impact on students, teachers, and families. Suzanne’s dedication to caring for those she works alongside is core to the spirit of this award– and, on a larger scale, Provo.
One nominator shared, “Consistency and dependability come to mind when I think about Suzanne. She has always been fair and consistent in all her responsibilities. Whatever task she is given, I know it will be completed to the highest standard. We are fortunate to have her here at Timpview.”
Another teacher praised Suzanne’s ability to balance her advocacy for students with her support for teachers, saying, “Having worked with Suzanne for years now, she is the standard for administrators. She is an advocate for students while also being an ally for teachers. Suzanne is the first administrator I would call if I need an honest and fair reaction to a situation.”
Another teacher noted that Parker “Is someone I feel confident approaching with questions and concerns. She has our backs when we’re dealing with challenges,” supported by another teacher’s nomination: “Suzanne is an amazing advocate for both teachers and students. I know that when I have a problem, she’ll know how to help.”
Parker’s responsiveness and care for the entire school community were common themes shared by all. One teacher reflected, “She is very responsive, and I can tell she cares deeply about our students, teachers, and the community. She’s competent, creative, trustworthy, and always here to do the right thing promptly.”
And, as a summary for previous words, one teacher made an encompassing statement on what makes Parker so special: “Over the past several years of building our 9GA community, we’ve always felt supported. Our voices mattered, and our students’ and families’ lives mattered. We’ve never felt unsupported, thanks to Suzanne’s ability to listen to our students’ needs and equip us with the tools to provide consistent direction and support.”
Suzanne Parker is a leader who listens, acts, and inspires. We couldn’t say it any better than her colleagues, so thank you, Suzanne, and congratulations on this well-deserved recognition.
