Seldom do students and teachers practice gratitude and self-analysis like in our Latinos in Action...
Most people remember their first day of school with slight trepidation as a new student tottering along long halls in new threads to meet masses of new people.
Sunset View Elementary, however, starts its year a little differently. They invite each grade of students to a Principal’s Breakfast. Teachers and staff prepare breakfast plates for new students before the principal, Chris Chilcoat, addresses families about the upcoming year.
During the Kindergarten lunch, Principal Chilcoat discussed every aspect of school life from the moment their students set foot on school grounds until their return home. Chilcoat covered School safety, check-in and check-outs, school culture and academic progress, and even school policies on managing bullies.
A breakfast was perfectly suited to invite families to join the Sunset View family for a devoted year of learning.
