Policy 6807 School Facility Emergency and Safety

The Provo City School Board recognizes that school safety and response to various emergency situations that may occur within the district are vital and important components of safe schools for Provo students, its employees, and patrons. Therefore, Provo City School District and each school therein shall adopt, implement, and practice an Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan.

Provo City School District shall put in place an overarching plan for the district and each school, in conjunction with its safety committee, shall put in place an individualized plan to address needs, specific to each school. The district plan, along with individual school plans, will be implemented in practice with employees and students in preparation to enact prevention, intervention, and response strategies in response to various emergencies that may occur within district boundaries.

The Board directs the Superintendent or designee to develop procedures which will ensure that the district and all schools therein shall create and adopt comprehensive Emergency Preparedness and Response Plans that will help protect PCSD students, staff, and patrons in the event of emergencies, both natural and/or man-made.
