Library Information for Parents & Families
At Provo City School District, we value transparency and strive to provide families with clear access to library resources. This page outlines how parents can view our library catalog, manage their child’s checkouts, and understand district policies regarding library materials.
Our Commitment to Transparency & Family Choice
We believe in open access to learning while respecting family preferences. Our library system provides families with tools to make informed choices, ensuring that parents can guide their child’s reading experience while maintaining a diverse and educational collection for all students.
Parents can see what books their child has checked out by logging into the library system using the same credentials their child uses for PCSD Chromebooks.
How to Check Your Child’s Library Account:
- Go to the library catalog:
- Select your child’s school
- Log in using your child’s PCSD Google credentials
Parents may request that their child not be allowed to check out specific books by contacting their school librarian directly.
How to Submit a Restriction Request:
- Find your school’s librarian:
- Email the librarian with the title(s) you would like restricted for your child
- This restriction will apply across all school libraries in the district
- If you need assistance finding your school librarian’s contact information, you may also reach out to the school directly.
Provo City School District is committed to providing instructional materials that align with state guidelines and prioritize student well-being. Our policies ensure that library materials are appropriate for educational settings while maintaining transparency and respecting family choices.
If a parent, student, district employee, or Board of Education member believes a book in our libraries meets the district’s definition of “sensitive material,” they may request a formal review. The review process follows established guidelines to ensure fairness, clarity, and consistency.
