Canyon Crest Elementary School recently celebrated their annual Hope Week. Hope Week is a week-long awareness that stems off of the school Hope Squads, which raise awareness of suicide prevention. Students participated in an assembly to help kick off the week, but little did they know that there was an extra surprise in store.

As the assembly began, teachers informed students that this assembly was not only to celebrate Hope Week, but also to honor their school media specialist, Launa Naylor. Teachers arranged for Mrs. Naylor to come to the assembly late and, as she came into the gym, she was greeted by cheers, confetti, and students holding signs that said loving phrases such as “you’re the best” and “we love you”.

The teachers talked to the students about how much Mrs. Naylor does for Canyon Crest and how grateful they are for her. The students then showed their appreciation by playing a video of them saying different things that they love about Mrs. Naylor.

All in all, it was a fun-filled assembly and a great opportunity to show Canyon Crest’s media specialist how thankful the school is for her and all she does. Great job, Canyon Crest!
