Sunset View fourth grade students write stories about what the world would look like without laws. After completing these stories, fourth-grade teacher, Chadley Baker, reached out to her sister Cassidy Baker— a teacher at Timpview High school.
“After the children wrote the stories, we thought it would be fun to partner together and bring these stories to life,” stated Cassidy. “I asked my Student Government class if they would be willing to act out these stories so, that the children could evaluate their writing skills and improve their transitions.”
“Plus,” added Chadley, “It allows my students to connect with older students who can serve as role models.”
“We thought it would be fun to host a Movie Premiere Night,” stated the sisters. “A red-carpet-like type of event where our students attend and watch the feature film together. We also thought about setting up Director’s booths. This might be a fun tradition, but we realize that COVID brings certain restrictions.”
“Most importantly,” stated Cassidy, “These students were able to sharpen their creative skills. Both the elementary and high school students had to think outside of the box to accurately convey and communicate their constructed thoughts.”
We enjoy seeing partnerships like this form in our district! Different ages, different minds, together can make a difference.
