Sunset View’s innovative and developed programs make this school a leader among the rest. Sunset View was recognized as a High Performing Title 1 School in 2009, a recognition given by the Utah State Office of Education. With the help of dedicated faculty, staff, students, and parents, Sunset View students work hard to make academic progress.
Reading and writing are taught with programs based on the latest research. The program includes both whole group instruction as well as targeted small group instruction for all ability levels.
Math instruction is taught in two groups: first, basic instruction in home rooms, then students split into leveled math groups for more specialized instruction. This allows students to receive both the core curriculum as well as on-level instruction.
Teachers use technology for both instruction and student practice. Every classroom has interactive white boards and desktop computers. Sunset View also has eight mobile computer carts with laptops for student use.
Sunset View has exceptional tutoring programs for both reading and math. Teachers use assessment information to refer students to tutoring where specific skills are taught by highly qualified tutors.
After and before school programs are designed to meet both the needs of struggling students and accelerated students. Programs are offered free of charge to student who qualify.
