Provo City School District is excited to announce two new hires to fill district administrative positions. Both of these positions have been filled following a rigorous application and interview process.
Director of Student Services
Dr. Doug Finch has been hired as the Director of Student Services. He will spend the next year working with current Executive Director of Student Services Gary Wilson, and will become Executive Director upon Gary Wilson’s retirement at the end of June 2018.
Born and raised in Payson, Finch graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Math and Japanese Teaching from BYU in 1997, a Masters degree in Educational Leadership from BYU in 2000 and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from UNLV in 2012. He taught math and coached sports at Payson High School prior to becoming an administrator in the Alpine School District in 2000. In Alpine School District, Finch held many leadership assignments including Assistant Principal at Lone Peak and Lehi High Schools, Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Alpine School District and Principal at Cascade Elementary School and American Fork High School. For the past two years, he has been in Provo City School District as principal at Edgemont Elementary School.
Of his new position, Dr. Finch stated, “I look forward to the opportunity to transition to the central office administration to contribute to school district’s vision and the many outstanding programs and partnerships with the community that support student success.”
Director of Human Resources
Jarod Sites has been hired as the new Director of Human Resources. He will be replacing Gary Wall.
Jarod Sites has worked at various locations in Provo City School District for 20 years. He began teaching at Independence High School as a Social Studies and PE Teacher before moving into Youth Corrections teaching multiple subjects. Jarod was also an Assistant Principal at Centennial Middle School and the Principal at Spring Creek Elementary School before becoming the Principal at Dixon Middle School, where he has served for the past 6 years.
He earned both a bachelor’s and master’s Degree from Brigham Young University. He continues to be involved with multiple universities as a Mentor Principal for graduate students who are preparing for school leadership. He was recently recognized as the Principal of the Year for the Utah Association of Secondary School Principals.
Sites is excited for this new opportunity, saying, “When this position became available, I was truly excited at the opportunity to work with principals, teachers and classified employees on a larger scale to bring about great things in our school district. I look forward to working with the great employees and patrons of our school district in the future.”
Both of these positions will begin on July 1, 2017. They will finish out the school year in their current positions.
