For anyone interested, we wanted to share the timeline of events that occurred this morning regarding the power outage on the west side of Provo. This is the process that is followed for any inclement weather or event that might affect school.

We were notified of the power outage at 6:10 a.m. Our Facilities Department spent the next 20 minutes gathering all of the necessary information about how the outage was affecting Provo City School District schools. From that point on, the Facilities Department was coordinating with Provo City Power, Head Custodians at the affected schools and District Administration. Every effort was made to determine the extent of the outage, the estimated timeline for restoring power and identifying which affected schools had power restored. Once all of the pertinent information had been established and the district knew how quickly Provo City Power was restoring power to the schools, communication was sent out via a phone call to parents of students at the affected schools and by messaging on the district website, Facebook page and Twitter account. By about 7:45 a.m. power had been restored to all of our schools. When there are power outages like this one, Provo City Power focuses its efforts on restoring power to emergency service locations and schools first. Thank you to Provo City Power for their work to get our schools up and running so quickly.
